Lily Pisano is a Creative exploring how she and others around her conceptualize the things that comprise their existence and experiences in the world--visibly, psychically, and otherwise. Using processes associated with fiber, steel, and paint as her primary mediums, Lily aims to visualize and immortalize our memetic tendencies that coexist with understandings of ourselves, others, and the natural and fabricated world. Operating under the age-old question, “Why do we do the things we do?” and other existential philosophies as her guides, Lily aims to unlock novel associations through the associations of Familiar and commonplace memes. These things are often taken for granted and rarely acknowledged in everyday life, can lead to explorations that lead to a utopian mix of clarity and confusion that transcend the concept of one’s self, entering instead into the realm of the constructed and assumed “Self.” This, in Lily’s mind, leads to a number of fantastic possibilities that can concoct a plurality of futures, among which we may choose to be a part.
